ABOUT

Mike spent 9 years working with the New York Yankees Player Development System coordinating the rehabilitation of both acute and chronic injuries, strength, speed and power development camps, and assisted with programming for the entire Strength and Conditioning program.   Mike worked extensively with both Major League and Minor League players throughout the rehab process, specializing in regaining strength and power post surgery/injury and return to sport protocols.

Mike earned his Bachelor’s of Exercise Science from the university of Mount Olive in Mount Olive North Carolina, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) though the National Strength and Conditioning Association where he holds Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC*D) status with distinction.

Private One-on-one Training

Private One-on-one training is a training program that is created specifically for you based on your medical history, abilities, goals, movement/performance assessment and schedule.  Following the assessment, you will execute your personalized program in a one-on-one training environment where you will be coached closely on exercise form and technique.

Semi-Private Training

Semi-Private Training is a training program that is created for you based on an initial assessment that takes into account your medical history, abilities, goals, movement/performance assessment and schedule. Following the assessment clients will execute personal training in a small group setting with up to 4 other clients who are also working on their own individual programs.   Each person still has an individualized program tailored to their needs while working in a group training setting. This setting can be a great motivator to help you reach your goals.

Sport Specific Team Training

Sport Specific Team Training is very much what the title states.  Teams will visit our facility, or Acumen goes to you. We put teams through a training program that will enhance speed, endurance, power, strength, mobility, flexibility and reduce injury risk.  With our team of specialist and Athletic Therapist we also offer movement screening, programming and performance testing in the team setting.

Reconditioning Program

With the Acumen Clinic Reconditioning Program, we strive to close the gaps between early diagnosis and integrating proper exercise to improve patient outcomes. Strength training is important and usually relevant to many clinical populations. We believe musculoskeletal reconditioning is an integral part of the Acumen Clinic experience. Many patients must navigate back to a demanding job (farming, construction, landscaping) while some need to get back to a competitive sport they love. Others would like to return to their healthy, active lifestyle (traveling, biking, kayaking, skiing, hiking, etc) or simply want to find a way to live a pain-free life. We are here to help find that path.
